CI Labs was founded with a simple goal: to develop a non-steroidal eczema support cream inspired by traditional medicinal knowledge while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.
Our founder’s interest in eczema care began from personal experience managing eczema over the years. As a parent, this became even more important after seeing similar skin challenges affect his own daughters. Like many families dealing with eczema-prone skin, the focus was on finding a gentler daily-care approach suitable for long-term use.
This led to years of research into traditional medicinal botanicals historically used to support irritated and sensitive skin, while working closely with formulators, laboratories, and practitioners to better understand how these ingredients could be incorporated into a modern topical cream.
The result was CI Labs Eczema Relief Cream — a formulation developed using carefully selected pharmacopoeia-grade herbal ingredients traditionally associated with soothing itch-prone and irritated skin.
The Breakthrough
Our formulation draws inspiration from traditional medicinal knowledge and incorporates a blend of herbal ingredients including Chinese Mint, Red Sage Root, Golden Larch Bark, Chamomile, Tea Tree Oil, and other botanicals traditionally used to support skin comfort and balance.
We also recognise that consistency and ingredient quality matter. Herbal ingredients can vary significantly depending on cultivation and sourcing practices, which is why we place strong emphasis on ingredient selection and supplier consistency.
At CI Labs, product safety is a core priority — especially for products intended for sensitive skin and children. Our cream undergoes independent laboratory testing and screening for a broad range of potential adulterants and contaminants, including steroids, antibiotics, antihistamines, heavy metals, and poisons.
We are also proud to be among the very few eczema-support creams classified by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore as a Traditional Medicine product under the Medicines Act 1975, and to have been issued a Free Sale Certificate by HSA Singapore.
To further strengthen our safety approach, the formulation was also evaluated according to stringent Oral Chinese Proprietary Medicine (CPM) testing standards, reflecting our commitment to higher safety
One for the Children
The name “CI Labs” reflects the brand’s philosophy of combining compassion, traditional medicinal insights, and modern scientific discipline. “Ci” (慈) is the Chinese pinyin for compassion or benevolence, reflecting the brand’s belief that skincare — especially for sensitive and eczema-prone skin — should begin with care and empathy. “Labs” represents formulation discipline, testing, consistency, and a commitment to safety-focused product development, and hence our name CI Labs or 慈愈坊.
Today, my daughters and I have been free from steroids for over a year, thanks to CI Labs Eczema Relief Cream, alongside a mindful regimen of healthy nutrition and proper skin care.
